I also built one. It does not have enough gain for a low output MC cartridge. You need a step up transformer. I use an Ortofon T30....

Strange.., the purple one should be the trippy one and the blue with more focus and not vice versa.Only 1 milligram of weight must be a strong medicine for your cartridge......

The GSC-related part of my 2014 was about refining my system so I can reliably "get inside" and explore the largest works, including Bruckner. Refinements were mostly about slightly re-tuning my speakers and tweaking my newly-re-built phono cartridge...
Romy,
I use Ortofon Rondo Bronze with Nottingham Spacearm and Spacedeck. I hate Spacearm because bad tracking. Also, I can't add mass to Spacearm.I going to try a heavy tonearm.Fidelity Research FR-64FX with Ortofon Ro...

Thanks for lt me know your euro tastes .. Romy .. but it would be more interesting for me a debating on arm mass and cartridge compliance....

youd be amazed at the garbage that can make it into modern vinyl, especially recycled Vinyl. Disc flatteners can work , Furutech has one at nose bleed prices as does Air Tight http://www.axissaudio.com/special/DFO1U.htm . The furutech website lists ...

1) Be very careful with use Halco resistors. They were very good 15 years back but they turned south very aggressively. I bought a party of Halco in 2005 and I forced myself to trashed them as they were very noisy. You do not use then in critica...
But why would you consider brass connectors because of 95% of boutique RCA if the idea is to wind up with the best signal path?
Of course not because of that! The ideal would be the connector I've shown but made with pure ...

N-set, I was somehow thinking of the (German...) EMTs when I "remembered" "meaty". Sorry. I have no idea how your newly modified cartridge might sound. The rest, if generic, remains apropos, I think.Good luck.Best regards,Paul...

Considering the minute amount of energy "created" (transformed) in a phono cartridge, perhaps some systems would truly benefit from geophysical orientation. Heck, in the days of expensive picture tube computer monitors there was a different tube for ...

Hi Romy,I am currently in the process of rebuilding my 834 PT. I see you don't use the capacitor bypass on V2, does this have any effect on overall gain of the corrector? I've recently acquired audio Technica ART7 cartridge which is low (0.12 mv) out...

There is a review of some UK magazine:
Stich , your own complains about aforementioned arms (Schroeder mostly) was "no highs , no lows " . Pretty primitive way to judge a productfrom a sophisticated listener like yourself. Since you seem to have unlimited budget , ...

Ah, think of it this way. Imagine floating the input to your ET step-ups. Don't ground it. Let the primary and phono cartridge float. This is a similar situation but far far more sensitive. It's a mind game to make it ea...

Let's see what Framer will find next...got a mail from Australia that Continuum has Production Problems. Also some master brains left the company...Well, I did listen 3x to the big Continuum, 2x it was more or less defect. The last time 1 channel did...

Correction: The CH brand phono stage I looked at is (of course) a current amplifier, and no reason to be curious about a regular old, typical voltage amplifier. I see there is also a VERY Expensive, 4-chassis version of this (already expensive) pho...

The truth of the matter is that I believe that true quality has nothing do with audio systems, high resolution or otherwise. How many good musicians are audiophiles? and does it matter? They can listen via an Internet Radio and enjoy as the music is in...

This is one example of the very successful marketing Hypes and in Reality this cartridge is sonically not better than those for 1k (at best)
I did compare it with a Lyra Helikon...

A friend once recommended me to use a wet cloth to slightly moist the tonearm's upper side to avoid electrostatic building up, before playing each record's side. It works wonderfully, especially here in my city which is very dry and electro...
Fuck the Fremer and anathema to each single audio product he touches. Sometime those whore do play the primitive publicity games in order to send a message of “own integrity”. That all BS and I do not even want to talk abo...
Is there such a thing as partly unshielded arm wire? If you want that run shielded, don't you have to start at the cartridge connection?
Paul, the tonearm wire runs inside the metal armwands (EMT & SME), which in tur...

Continuing my crawling in the sea of cartridge excrements, there is this Lumiere DST, inspired by Neumann DST-62 and highly praised by Stefano.Difficult to get any reasonable info (at least some basic raw data), apart from apparent sample-to-sample h...

already run other cartridges through the same front end, IC, etc., and they are fine...The last time my "cartridge" took a big dump, it was the tube pins in the K&K.And I coulda sworn I'd just cleaned 'em...Paul S...

As a weekend-only listener, it can take me eons to break in some of my most stubborn components. In the case of the K&K, things seem to have reached +/- tonic equalibrium.I may have have mentioned it in passing, but at some point ...

I shot a Pic from a Turntable, the owner bought a brand-new Ortofon cartridge this week. When I looked at the pic I saw that the angle is not the angle Framer recommends. It is not a super sharp picture, because the focus adjustments were on a differ...

Perhaps one reason why the Sussurro does not sound like other MC cartridges of Armen's experience is that it is NOT a MC. In fact it is a Moving Iron cartridge with fixed coils and fixed magnet albeit with low output.NB Capacitance is an issue I beli...

What you have there Romy is essentially the cartridge Ortofon introduced in 1948, the first production moving coil cartridge.
The motor is the same, just the "suspension" material changed from india rubber to a modern elastomer AFAIK. Also the G-sty...
